More than a century of experience
With our foundation dating back to 1916, Codan has a long history with insurance of complex risks and international needs. Over the years, we have established ourselves as a leading player of insuring complex risks.
- In 1916, Codan Forsikring A/S was established by the fusion of four different companies.
- In 1940, the company merged with Phoenix Assurance Company Ltd. And later, the group was joined by Fjerde Søforsikring and Hafnia Forsikring, both with substantial marine insurance departments.
- In 1964, Codan Forsikring A/S was publicly listed.
- Today, Codan Denmark inclusive Risk Solutions is a part of Alm. Brand Group, the second largest insurance company in Denmark. We continue to work under our well-known Codan name and brand.
